Fish Oil Intakes Bring Weight Loss, says Study

There are many metabolic syndromes (MS) such as abdominal adiposity, high triglycerides and low HDL (high-density lipoprotein) levels, insulin resistance, and increasing risk of cardiovascular disease associated with obesity. As per a new research at the Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg, there was significant difference found in the essential fatty acids content among overweight adolescents with MS and the non-overweight teenagers. There was a highly significant difference in DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) concentration with those of normal-weights. It was also found that non-obese participants had a significantly higher ratio of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) to standard fatty acid (SFAs) as compared to overweight adolescents. The research confirmed that regular intake of long-chain PUFAs and DHA is highly recommended for obese patients.

The DHA is present in omega-3 fatty acids which is a primary component of fish oil and its supplements. Hence fish oil supplements can be helpful for weight loss. As per a recent study conducted at the University of Georgia, fish oil with DHA helps stop converting the pre-fat cells into fat cells. As a result, the accumulation of fat is deceased significantly.

Now doctors also recommend regular intake of fish oil supplements along with exercise to lose weight significantly. Apart from consumption of oily fish such as cod and sardines, fish oil can also be taken as supplements or capsules. These fish oil supplements are not like some heavy dose chemicals which reduce weight for a short time and then show serious side effects once the medicines are stopped. What’s more, omega 3 DHA present in fish oil alleviate the anxiety and depression which are normally linked with obesity.
